ÀROKÒ MUSIC FEATURE: “LA LA” by Jeremy Capps
Between visiting a sick parent and his daughter's first birthday, Jeremy Capps wrote "La La" for anyone who's ever let a new infatuation take over.
NOTE
I wrote "La La" right after flying to Nashville to see my dad, not long after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. It landed around my daughter's first birthday, so I was caught between the two — checking on him, missing her. The song started as a couple loops on my phone, most likely on the plane. I'm always able to focus in the air, something about not having a phone signal. I wanted something simple enough that my daughter could sing it back to me. The song itself is about the carelessness of infatuation, the way you can fall into something new and let it take up all the room. I wanted to give people something to play during the moments that feel light — joy, infatuation, pleasure, the parts of life that don't ask to be examined too closely.

Verse 1:
Baby you're glistening
Silver tooth smile I'm wit it, yeah
You got me so hypnotized
And you clocked it like tick tick,
tick tick tick
Chorus:
La la, La la la
La la, La la la
La la, La la la
La la, La la la
Prechorus:
(You can) Tell me if I take it too far,
You can have the money, clothes and cars
I'm just tryna make you scream Ahhh
You can have whatever you want baby
There you go
Ain't nothin to me
Sharp, shooter
Baby I aim to please
Outro:
Is you down or not?
Lemme show how I'm gonna hit the spot
